The Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano awarded with the Where Milan Awards

On November 30th 2015 the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo has received the Where Milan Awards at the 31st floor of the Pirelli Skyscraper, during the event Milano tra le stelle held by the magazine Where Milan in collaboration with the association Milano Loves You and the Osservatorio Metropolitano of Milan.

The event, at its fifth edition, it was set up to analyse the trend of tourism in the city of Milan, in particular this year during EXPO 2015 during which were achieved high peaks of visitors, and for award all institutions that took part in this success.

The award was withdrawn by the President of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano Mons. Gianantonio Borgonovo, with a presentation that highlighted the increase of the number of visitors in the monumental complex of the Cathedral. In fact, in the period from May to October 2015, there has been a significant increase of tourists over the previous year, for a total of 2,055.787 visitors in six months, which add up the worshippers who daily access in the Cathedral.

The increase of visitors has also interested the Grande Museo del Duomo di Milano who, during EXPO 2015 it saw 215,750 people from around the world, when in the same period in 2014 recorded 44,729 admissions. This, thanks to the new ticket who, in addition to the entrance in the Cathedral, also include the San Gottardo in Corte Church and the Museum, suggesting to the visitors a complete itinery, for appreciate the beauty of the monument symbol of Milan.

“In this way, the Veneranda Fabbrica, the most ancient institution of Milan which pass all historic forms of government and administration of the city, for the six months of EXPO 2015 it has developed a series of initiatives, thanks to the work and devotion of the Director, with a group of young people that embodies the enthusiasm, the passion and the values that it has been pursuing for more than six hundred years” – these are the words of the President Mons. Borgonovo.
