On the Fridays of Lent the Reliquary of Santa Croce will be on display in the Duomo

Made of silver gilt with garnets, ivory, and rock crystal, the reliquary was a gift from Mons. Angelo Majo to the Parish of Santa Tecla

For the entire duration of Lent, on the five Fridays preceding the Holy Week (February 19, 26 and March 4, 11, 18), from 4-6pm, the Reliquary of Santa Croce will be on display inside the Duomo for individual worship.

The precious Relic is housed within a cross-shaped reliquary donated to the Parish of Santa Tecla forty years ago for Christmas in 1976 by the dean of the Duomo at the time, Mons. Angelo Majo.

Made of silver gilt with garnets and rock crystal by the Milanese goldsmith Pino Creperio, the stem of the reliquary is comprised of a knot of ivory on which the Stations of the Cross are engraved; on its base the Deposition and the symbols of the Four Evangelists are depicted. These representations explicitly evoke the Passion of the Christ and invite all to meditate on the mystery of the greatest Love of all - that of Jesus - directing the gaze of the faithful to the relic nestled within, ideally "retracing" the Stations of the Cross from the bottom to the top.
