A space dedicated to visitors

In the name of a new welcoming strategy and the strengthening of all services offered to the millions of tourists who visit the Grande Museo del Duomo and entire monumental complex each year, the Veneranda Fabbrica continues in its commitment and intent to make its information, ticketing, and promotional activities increasingly simple through the opening of a new space: Ticket Office 1 – Sala delle Colonne – which as of 6 April 2017 will be open to the public seven days a week.

A SPACE DEDICATED TO VISITORS: TICKET OFFICE, INFO POINT, AND MUCH MORE

The Sala delle Colonne, located in the heart of the Grande Museo del Duomo, with direct access from the piazza (Piazza del Duomo, 14a), represents an innovative experiment in the integrated management of all services offered to visitors, in line with the standards and welcoming methods already tested by other cathedrals, like the Cologne Cathedral in Germany and the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, with the creation of a single location in which visitors can find everything they need in order to begin their visit of the monumental complex.

The choice of this space was a necessary solution given the availability of appropriate locations under the jurisdiction of the Veneranda Fabbrica; it will nevertheless have a temporary feel while various activities involved in the maintenance of the worksite located on the southern side of the Duomo near the façade and other restorations related to this area of the monument are completed.

The Sala will also allow access to the visitors' route of the Grande Museo del Duomo, with a direct connection that makes it possible to begin one's visit immediately after purchasing a ticket.

With a concept fully inspired by the Duomo di Milano, designed using Candoglia marble, Ticket Office 1 – Sala delle Colonne, in addition to 8 ticket windows and 2 automatic ticket machines, provides all other ancillary services for visiting the monumental complex (info point, rental of headset systems, tour group reception, free timed Wi-Fi with access to a whitelist of websites available as of May, the option to download the official Duomo Milano app). An intelligent system of line management and head counting will be implemented within the Sala, with priority given to those with disabilities and other sensitive categories, which will finally allow visitors to wait in a welcoming and protected space, thus providing a more comfortable ticket-purchasing experience and thinning the lines in the piazza for entry to the Duomo.

A LOOK AT THE WORKSITES. AND ONCE AGAIN, DONATIONS FOR “GET YOUR SPIRE” AND THE DUOMO SHOP

At the entrance to Ticket Office 1 – Sala delle Colonne, tourists may begin immediately to immerse themselves in their visit to the monument, learning about the Veneranda Fabbrica and its infinite work over the past nearly seven centuries to restore, safeguard, and promote the Duomo di Milano, in an effort to preserve, unscathed, the extraordinary beauty of this structure, exploring its characteristics and remaining up-to-date on new developments

Within the space, visitors can make a donation to the "Get Your Spire: carve your name in history" fundraiser, using the practical Donachiaro devices: an innovative solution for continuing to reach out to the entire population and for facilitating those who, during their visit, wish to make a donation also over the weekend, guaranteeing a safe and transparent transaction.

In addition, Ticket Office 1 – Sala delle Colonne is connected to the Duomo Shop, with the opportunity to purchase printed material for one's visit to the Grande Museo del Duomo, the official publications of the Veneranda Fabbrica, and all of the products from the official "Duomo Milano" collection, the proceeds of which also help to support the Cathedral's restorations.

An efficient, practical, and evocative space. A place where each visitor can feel truly welcomed and as though they are a part of something bigger than themselves, a part of something engraved in the genetic heritage of all those who experience its beauty. A place that enhances not only the Grande Museo del Duomo, but the entire monumental complex.
