The Holy Nail in the Duomo di Milano and the Nivola Rite, at the sources of a great history of faith

After the Scuola della Cattedrale on the 10th of September, the texts of the speeches by Mons. Borgonovo and Mons. Navoni are now available

The appointment of the Scuola della Cattedrale, that took place in the Cappella Feriale on Thursday 10th September, titled “The Holy Nail and the Nivola Rite: the enchantment of an ancient tradition. A dialogue between faith and history”, registered a great audience participation, the public listening with interest the speeches by Mons. Gianantonio Borgonovo, Archpriest of the Duomo and Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo President, by Mons. Marco Navoni, scholar at the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana, and by Prof. Philippe Daverio, member of the Scientific Committee of the Grande Museo del Duomo di Milano.

In particular, Mons. Borgonovo and Mons. Navoni retraced the fascinating history of the Holy Nail, preserved in the Duomo for centuries and protagoinst – on the occasion of the liturgic celebration of the Feast of the Cross (14th September) – of the charming Nivola Rite: an emotion which today can be lived again thanks to the YouTube channel of the Veneranda Fabbrica, that proposes the most suggestive moments of the Vespers presided over by His Eminence the Cardinal Archbishop on the last 12th September.

For those who would like to deepen the topic of the Holy Nail, the speeches by Mons. Gianantonio Borgonovo and Mons. Marco Navoni are now available online, attached at the bottom of this page in PDF format.
