This morning Graziano Delrio, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, attended a private visit of the Duomo di Milano, the Cathedral's terraces, and some of the areas currently being restored by the Veneranda Fabbrica.
The minister was greeted at the Duomo's side doors by the President of the Veneranda Fabbrica, Fedele Confalonieri, and by the Archpriest of the Duomo, Mons. Gianantonio Borgonovo.
Of note, within the Cathedral the Minister examined the work done on the interior lighting system and on that of the interior of the Tiburio. On the Terraces he was able to climb all the way up to the small balcony of the Great Spire, observing both the completed and ongoing work taking place there, as well as other restorations, including that of the Vandoni Spire, the walls of the large windows, and the flying buttresses on the southern side.
His visit was an occasion to have another look at the text of the "Second Supplementary Agreement", stipulated in December 2016 with the approval of the 2017 Budget Law, which provided a contribution for extraordinary renovations to the Monument of € 5 million per year for the three-year period from 2017-2019.
