Organ vespers: from November 11th listen to the sounds of the Duomo

Every second Saturday of the month at 4:30 pm, A moments of meditation through music

The organ is the voice of the Duomo.
For centuries, its sounds have filled the soaring naves of the Cathedral, giving a voice to the emotions of people who, united in prayer within the house of God and the city, begin to listen to themselves through the artistic beauty of music.
And since the day the Monument opened its doors, the sound of the organ has accompanied the life of the Veneranda Fabbrica: the instrument we see today is testimony to the preciousness and importance of this history. Made up of over 15,800 pipes, it is the largest Organ in Italy and among the top ten largest in the world.
In preparation for the celebration of the vigil eucharist held at 5:30 pm in the Cathedral, every second Saturday of the month a new moment of meditation through music will be included. “Vespri d’Organo” (Organ Vespers) will begin Saturday, 11th November, from 4:30 pm to 5:15 pm, and will feature a reading of a few short pieces of Scripture which will impart a “spiritual tone” to the listening sessions. The Titular Organist of the Duomo, Emanuele Carlo Vianelli, the Second Organist Alessandro La Ciacera, and numerous guest organists will take to the keys of the instrument in the context of vespers.
As usual, worshippers can enter the Duomo from the far north door (Piazza del Duomo, on the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II side).
