To mark the 500th anniversary of Da Vinci’s death, the Veneranda Fabbrica is offering a guided tour to celebrate the great genius of the Renaissance: Leonardo Da Vinci.
An immersive journey into the life of the Duomo’s work yard during the Renaissance when Da Vinci arrived in Milan and found himself involved in the debate about the construction and design of the Cathedral’s lantern, a true engineering challenge for the time. During the tour, we will retrace the story of the competition held to choose the winning architectural project, in which Da Vinci participated submitting a model as well as documents and designs, some of which are conserved in the Veneranda Fabbrica’s Archives. Da Vinci’s legacy can be found in some incredibly beautiful and evocative works of art in the Duomo, such as the flayed Saint Bartholomew by Marco d’Agrate.
