Arcivescovo Mons. Mario Delpini

The Duomo is where the Archbishop’s throne is placed and the preferential church for his Magisterium.
Indeed, it is in the Duomo that – during the Solemn celebrations of the Nativity of Mary (8 September) – the Archbishop presents the Pastoral Plan for the entire Diocese and he presides over the most significant celebrations of the whole liturgical year: first and foremost the solemn Chrism Mass on the morning of Maundy Thursday, the diocesan celebration of “Corpus Domini”, Ordinations of deacons and presbyters, perpetual Professions by Nuns and the anniversary of the Dedication of the Cathedral (the third Sunday of October).
Lastly, the Duomo is also the place where, at the end of their lives, Archbishops are buried.
