The Duomo\u2019s organ represents a true patrimony of art and mechanics, and is the symbol of the Cathedral\u2019s centuries-long musical tradition.<\/p>\n<p>Milan Duomo\u2019s organ, whose story began long ago in 1394, <strong>is still today the largest modern organ existing in Italy <\/strong>and firmly holds <strong>second place at the European level<\/strong> as regards the number of pipes and stops, resulting in it also being <strong>included in the hall of fame of the world\u2019s fifteen largest organs.<\/strong> 15,800 pipes, 5 organ cases, 5 consoles: if the numerical data in itself is impressive, even more so are the artistic aspects. The panels on each side of the two monumental organ cases consist of sixteen large canvases depicting episodes from the Old and New Testament created between the 16th and 17th century by well-known artists of the time such as\u2014amongst others\u2014Giuseppe Meda and Camillo Procaccini.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Participation in the project is principally aimed at companies who want to continue writing the Duomo\u2019s great melody, giving this extraordinary instrument its voice back.<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Following completion of the restoration, a metal plaque with the company\u2019s name will be placed inside the instrument\u2019s wooden structure, thus acting as witness to the Donor\u2019s immense commitment to this impressive work site.<\/h3>\n                                <\/div>\n                                                            <\/div>\n                        <\/div>\n                        <div class=\"col-12 col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-6 col-xl-6 col-xxl-6 order-md-3 right\">\n                                                    <\/div>\n                    <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<section id=\"\" class=\"block-text-photo \" aria-label=\"Schedule of works\"  style=\"background: #F5F5F5\"  name=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container-fluid\">\n        <div class=\"row\">\n            <div class=\"col-12\">\n                <div class=\"container\">\n                    <div class=\"row\">\n                        <div class=\"col-12 col-sm-12 col-md-12 content-text-full order-md-2 left \">\n                            <div class=\"content-text\">\n                                                                <h2 >\n                                    Schedule of works                                <\/h2>\n                                <div class=\"content-mobile\">\n                                                                    <\/div>\n                                <div id=\"description-block_82efd491162bd5ec146ab935b5b5cc4f\" class=\"description\" >\n                                    <p>The efficiency of Milan Duomo\u2019s monumental organ and the integrity of its decorative parts are currently seriously compromised. The functioning of this extraordinary instrument is threatened by various factors of degradation, such as the natural deterioration of\u00a0 the living materials from which it is made\u2014wood and leather\u2014and deposits of atmospheric particulates on the phonic material, the pipes, to which is added the phenomena of natural wear and tear and oxidation of the electromechanical components.
