Saturday “in Traditione Symboli”

When the “Symbol of Faith” is presented to the Catechumens.

Eucharistic celebrations 8:30 a.m. (in the Crypt) – 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

– at 5:30 p.m. Blessing of the olive branches and Vigil Eucharist Celebration of Palm Sunday

– at 8:45 p.m. Vigil in Traditione Symboli with the Catechumens and the youth from the Diocese, presided over by His Excellency Archbishop

Opening of the Cathedral at 7:45 p.m.

This day commemorates the ancient Rite of the Handing in (Traditio) of the Symbol of Faith (the text of the “Creed”, the synthesis of all Christian faith) to the Catechumens so that they could learn it by heart and thus express their profession of faith before receiving Baptism on Easter night.

At the Vigil in Traditione Symboli, the Archbishop meets the young people inside the Cathedral and renews the rite of the “Handing in of the Creed” to the Catechumens, who will receive the Sacraments of Christian Initiation next Easter.
