“The heavens opened and the voice of the Father said: ‘This is my Son, the beloved: listen to him’” (Gospel acclamation). The Baptism of the Lord, already commemorated – according to the common tradition of the Eastern and Western Churches – on the solemnity of the Epiphany, is recalled in a special way on this Sunday, which closes the Christmas season and opens the season after the Epiphany. Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan is a true ‘epiphany’ (manifestation), revealing the meaning of his mission, and this year’s liturgy presents the narrative according to the Gospel of Matthew.
You can follow the vigil celebration (Saturday 10 January), the 9.30am celebration and the Chapter Eucharist (Sunday 11 January) via live streaming on this website (www.duomomilano.it) from the Duomo Milano TV YouTube channel.
