Get Your Spire: the project

Get your spire: the project

This fundraising  project was launched in 2012 by the Veneranda Fabbrica as a way to support the various restoration of the Duomo, spires included. The aim is to actively involve all citizens – private individuals, companies and associations – in the safeguarding of the Milan Duomo. All the architectural elements of the Cathedral, including the 135 spires, are daily exposed to atmospheric agents and pollution, this is why they require constant care and maintenance works to ensure prayer and the visiting by worshippers and tourists in complete safety.

Over the centuries, people have always contributed to the Monument with donations of goods and money, thus participating in the big challenge planned for the future. Donating in favour of “Get your spire” project means supporting the great effort and commitment of the Veneranda Fabbrica, in addition to the great cultural and historical value of Duomo and its timeless message.

The Public Appeal

The projects is aimed at all those who wish to support the Veneranda Fabbrica in the continuous restoration of all the architectural elements of the Cathedral. No minimum amount is required (only online donations require a minimum of €5) and the choice of the spire is free and will have a symbolic value. Donors can then receive some additional benefits, including a donation certificate and a piece of marble for donations equal or more than € 50,00.

Companies and private citizens: being a Golden Donor

The Golden Donors who make up the Spires Club are private citizens, associations, foundations and companies who have decided to associate their history and identity to the Monument symbol of Milan. The Golden Donors actively contribute to the restoration of the Cathedral with great generosity while being able to associate their name to a specific spire among those available, and place to the base a marble plate with their name or other inscription in agreement with Veneranda Fabbrica. Golden Donors will also benefit from additional specific activities tailored to their needs.
