#ParoledArchivio: G for Governo Fabbrica (Veneranda Fabbrica Board of Directors)

The Archive of Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo converges all documents produced by Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo during its long-standing history: logbooks, drawings, projects, correspondence, mandates for payments, photographs and much more besides. Considering the quantity and heterogeneous nature of the material preserved, various document division and classification systems have been adopted over the centuries to ensure appropriate protection and easy consultation.

Of the many archived collections, today we wish to introduce one that is significantly entitled “Governo Fabbrica”. This collection is part of the section that preserves loose leafs (unbound papers) produced and acquired by Veneranda Fabbrica from the early 1800s to date.

The term “Governo” instantly recalls the hierarchical management structure of the institution. In fact, these series are preserved in more than one hundred folders with evidence of the most important activities carried out by councillors and chancellors, regarding relations with other institutions, the definition of regulations and standards and, finally, reflections of the institution about its structure, functions and legal framework.
