Pursuant to Article 4 of the Statute of the Veneranda Fabbrica, the board consists of seven members who remain in office for three years, two of whom are recommended by the Diocesan Ordinary and five by the Ministry of the Interior following consultation with the Archbishop. The President is elected from among the seven members.

Today, the Board met for the first time following this act and, on this occasion, also on behalf of all the employees and collaborators, welcomed Dr Giovanna Mazzocchi.
The Board of Directors then proceeded to elect the President, unanimously confirming Dr Fedele Confalonieri for the next triennium..
Il Consiglio di Amministrazione ha quindi proceduto all’elezione del Presidente, confermando all’unanimità il Dr. Fedele Confalonieri per il prossimo triennio.
“The inauguration of the renewed Board of Directors represents good news in what has been a very difficult year for the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano, particularly affected by the effects of the pandemic on tourism. It will thus be able to work in a spirit of continuity to complete the projects undertaken and underline new strategies, facing the challenges that we are encountering along this bumpy road that is 2020 and which require the institution to look to the future with a sense of responsibility and trust. The Board of Directors, welcoming Giovanna Mazzocchi, a passionate entrepreneur and an expression of that civic spirit that has always animated the Veneranda Fabbrica in over six centuries of activity, will make available all the energy and skills required to best perform its responsibilities. For my part, as three years ago, I am honoured to be able to continue carrying out this “most Milanese of tasks” and to continue bearing the torch that has been passed down to us since 1387.
With Archpriest Mons. Gianantonio Borgonovo and the other Members, we wanted to open the session by extending a thought to the late Giorgio Squinzi, cherished Member and generous patron of the Duomo”, declared President Dr Fedele Confalonieri.
Among the President’s many duties, there are those of legally representing the Veneranda Fabbrica, supervising its general performance, calling and chairing board meetings, carrying out resolutions and dispensing the approved related expenses, preparing and submitting the budget and final account to the Board for approval, transmitting the previous year’s final account and the current year’s budget to the Prefect within the deadline, adopting the necessary measures in case of emergency, and promoting the protection of rights relating to the assets of the Cathedral Church administered by the Fabbrica.
In accordance with the current Statue of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, all Members, including the President, perform their work free of charge, except for the reimbursement of expenses incurred while carrying out their mandate.
The Board of Directors has also designated Dr Fulvio Pravadelli as General Manager of the Institution.
Once authenticated, the minutes of the meeting are sent to the Prefecture of Milan for forwarding to the Ministry of the Interior for further provisions within its competence.
On Tuesday, 24 November 2020 at 11.45am, a live press conference is scheduled to be streamed to present some new initiatives in support of the Cathedral’s restoration.
