Diocesan Missionary Vigil

Celebration of the ‘Redditio Symboli’ and ‘Missionary Mandate’ presided over by His Excellency Monsignor the Archbishop (opening of the Duomo at 7.45 p.m.)

On the eve of the diocesan celebration of World Mission Day (Sunday, 27 October), priests, religious and lay people, who make themselves available for the proclamation of the Gospel in sister Churches around the world, receive the Missionary Mandate from Archbishop Monsignor Mario Delpini.

During the Vigil, 18-year-olds and young people are also invited to deliver their Rule of Life into the hands of the Archbishop.

The handing over of the Crucifix for the departing, the welcoming of those who are introduced to the Diocese of Milan and the handing over of the Rule of Life by the young people are in accord with the perspective of giving back what we have received in life and in the horizon of the missio ad gentes, which constitutes a provocation for all believers to recognise themselves as missionary disciples.
