Palm Sunday, with the dual remembrance of Jesus’ Entrance into Jerusalem (Mass combined with the Procession) and the anointing of Bethany (Mass on the day), ushers us into Holy Week, called – from the earliest documents of the Ambrosian liturgy – Hebdomada authentica (Authentic Week), the “eminent” Week among all the weeks of the liturgical year and therefore the typical and normative Week.

We celebrate the Easter of the Lord: Mystery of death and resurrection, which calls us not to remain as mute spectators and asks us to allow ourselves to be involved and inwardly transformed by God’s love for us. Let us express the purpose of following Jesus to the foot of the cross, overcoming the darkness of betrayal and death, in the certainty that the Lord is the “firstborn of those who rise from the dead” (Epistle: Colossians 1:18).

Let there be two sentiments in particular during these days: praise, as those who welcomed Jesus in Jerusalem did, and thanksgiving, because in this “Authentic Week” the Lord Jesus renews the gift of his life.

You can follow the 10:30 a.m. Pontifical and 4:30 p.m. Vespers by streaming on this Site (www.duomomilano.it) from the YouTube channel Duomo Milano TV.
