South side spire-G49

This spire is located in the area of ​​the Northern Transept, corresponding to the chapel of the Virgin Mary of the tree. On the top there is a statue of a proud and elegant young saint, with his right leg raised in the act of taking a step. The left arm is resting at the side and is covered by a drapery that rises up to the shoulder and runs in soft shapes along the entire side of the body, up to the feet. The anatomy of the figure is rendered precisely and punctually, the hair is thick and well-groomed, the hair styled in large curls reaches up to the shoulders. The sculpture is a copy of the neoclassical original, created between 1962 and 1969, and was replaced in 1969 for conservation reasons.
