Updates about access to the Historical Complex of the Duomo of Milan

The Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano continues its commitment to a functional hospitality strategy, with attention to constantly improve the quality of the visit experience to the Historical Complex.

Furthermore, the organization is working intensely to guarantee an increasingly optimal and orderly coexistence of those who access the Cathedral for personal prayer and those who access it for a cultural and tourist visit.

Below we communicate the updates about the accesses and services from March 1st included, with reference to some rules and regulations. The rates currently in force will continue to be applied for bookings made by 29 February 2024 – and relating to visits – to be carried out untill 2nd April 2024.

 

CATHEDRAL / AREA RESERVED FOR CHRISTIAN PRAYER

Those who access the Milan Cathedral for prayer, celebrations and the Sacraments can walk through a reserved area, with a dedicated entrance. From 7.00am to 8.30am every day, the faithful will be able to access as usual from the side doors of the Cathedral (Piazza del Duomo, via Card. Martini / Arcivescovado side) and, from 8.00am to 7.00pm (last access at 6.10pm) , from the far north door (Piazza del Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II side).

 

VISITOR ACCESS AND TICKETING

NEW VISIT SUPPORT DEVICES: RENEWED VIDEO GUIDE AND OFFICIAL APP IN 11 LANGUAGES

From the1st of March 2024, the new official video guides of the Milan Cathedral created by Veneranda Fabbrica with the support of Orpheo Group will be available. A multimedia tour, completely renovated, full of insights and curiosities about the Cathedral, Archaeological Area, Museum and Terraces. The renewed and expanded content will be available in 11 languages. In addition to the languages ​​already present in the previous version (Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Portougese (Brazil), Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian), the Polish language is added as the result of the analysis of the flows of foreign visitors in the city and in a with a view to constant collaboration and dialogue with the Consular Corps present in Milan. The devices stand out for being resistant and allow two people to listen simultaneously; furthermore, the interface is particularly simple and user friendly for all categories of audience.

Together with the renewal of the video guide, the new official DUOMOMILANO app will also be downloadable from Google Play and Apple Store in March. The application gives access to all the information for the visit. The video-guided tour of the Duomo Museum is available free of charge: a unique opportunity, offered by the Veneranda Fabbrica, to the ever-increasing number of visitors to the museum complex to discover more closely the treasures preserved here. The contents of the other sections will be available to purchase at a cost of €2.49. The app is available in 11 languages ​​and can be downloaded onto your phone, so that the contents can be enjoyed even without a wifi or internet connection. Furthermore, the application is characterized by an easy-to-use interface and a user experience tested in more than 2,000 museums around the world, with a rich gallery of images and the possibility of zoom and integrated captions.

 

DUOMO OF MILAN FOR TOURIST VISIT AND DUOMO MUSEUM

 

The single access ticket to the Milan Cathedral and the Duomo Museum (including entry to the Church of San Gottardo in Corte) is set at €10.00 full price / €5.00 reduced. The ticket is valid for 72 hours.

This rate is applied every day except Wednesday (closing day of the Duomo Museum), when the ticket is set at €8.00 full price / €4.00 reduced

 

DUOMO TERRACES

 

Terraces ticket, which allows a single access to the Duomo Terraces (not to the Cathedral nor to the Museum) is fixed with the lift ride at €16.00 full price / €8.00 reduced; with ascent on foot €14.00 full price / €7.00 reduced.

 

COMBO TICKETS

 

Culture Pass ticket, which allows single access to Milan Cathedral, Archaeological Area and Duomo Museum (entry to Church of San Gottardo in Corte included), is set at €12.00 full price / €6.00 reduced (the reduced ticket is extended to students under 26 upon presentation of their school badge). The ticket is valid for 72 hours.

Culture Pass Plus ticket has been active since November 2023 and adds to the Culture Pass the entrance to the Scurolo di San Carlo for tourist visits, which has just been restored. The rate is €14.00 full price/ €7.00 reduced. Ticket  is valid for 72 hours.

From 1 March 2024 the Combo Tickets comes into force, with a single access to the Milan Cathedral, Terraces (ascent by lift or stairs) and to Duomo Museum (including entry to the Church of San Gottardo in Corte ), fixed with the lift access at €25.00 full price / €12.50 reduced; the access on foot is €20.00 full price / €10.00 reduced. The ticket is valid for 72 hours.

 

DUOMO + VENERANDA BIBLIOTECA AMBROSIANA

 

Duomo + Ambrosiana ticket, which allows single access to Milan Cathedral, Archaeological Area, the Terraces (on foot), Duomo Museum, Ambrosiana Art Gallery and Crypt of San Sepolcro, is set at €34.00 Full price / €22.00 Reduced. The ticket is valid for 72 hours.

 

GROUP ACCESS

 

Duomo Infopoint customer assistance and information service and the ticket office dedicated to groups are located in the external structure on the right side of the Cathedral (from 5 March 2024), open every day from 9.00am to 6.00pm. On that date, the toilets, open to the public will also be reactivated.

We also remind to all the visitors that all groups in visit to the Historical Complex of the Duomo of Milan, composed of at least 6 people (5 participants + 1 guide/tour leader), the use of a microphone system (radio guides) is mandatory. Amplification systems such as loudspeakers or similar are not permitted. Booking in advance is strongly recommended for tourist, school and/or religious groups for a better flow management. Groups without a reservation or those that do not respect the reservation time, are not entitled to any priority to the entrance.

From March the 1st it will be possible to rent the new radio system provided by OrpheoGroup, for all groups in visit with a tour guide. The new systems are functional, their digital technology allow the reduction of interference and the overcome of the distance-related problems, they are very light and have a battery that guarantees excellent performance in terms of duration. Entrance and devices can be booked in the “BOOKING” section of the official website of the Duomo of Milan. Reservations are open until April 2nd, 2024.

To visit the Archaeological Area – Baptistery of Santo Stefano (with access from the north lift) the previous rules will remain valid: n. Maximum 10 participants per group plus guide and/or tour leader (maximum 2 per group); Access is free and it is necessary to send an email to [email protected] at least 5 working days before the date chosen for the visit.
