An appointment that has now become a summer classic in Milan.

After last year’s extraordinary success, Veneranda Fabbrica offers a new calendar of events and evening guided tours with the iconic Milan Duomo’s Rooftops as the absolute protagonists.

The emotion of the evening lights up the Cathedral with extraordinary beauty. By populare demand, starting from 6th June 2024, the suggestive Thursdays with musical accompaniment at sunset return, thanks to the support of Tiqets, an online marketing and booking platform for cultural experiences around the world and sponsor of the initiative.

THURSDAY EVENING OPENINGS UNTIL 10 P.M. WITH MUSICAL ACCOMPANIMENT

Every Thursday evening, from 6th June to 12th September 2024, visitors will have the incredible opportunity to enjoy the majestic spectacle of the 135 spires and thousands of statues that populate the Cathedral’s walls until 10 p.m, right the moment when the infinite hues of the sunset light dyes the precious pink Candoglia marble with enchantment.

Visitors will exceptionally be able to access the Cathedral’s Rooftops by lift (with last ascent scheduled at 8:30 p.m.), to admire the solemn and silent stone forest, the splendid ornaments and the Madonnina at the most evocative moment of the day: sunset.

An experience made even more enchanting thanks to a special live musical accompaniment that, starting around 8:30 p.m. (the time may vary due to seasonal needs), will enliven the visit of all those present among the Cathedral spires.

Each Thursday, many musicians will take turns on the terraces with a vast repertoire.

The first event, on Thursday 6th June 2024, will start at about 8:30 p.m. and will feature the newly formed Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo’s String Quartet, composed of professors Andrea Pecolo (violin), Stefano Lo Re (violin), Matteo Amadasi (viola) and Alfredo Persichilli (cello), musicians from the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra.

The subsequent musical moments in June and on July 4 and 11 are made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Conservatorio “Giuseppe Verdi” of Milan. Students and young promises of the prestigious institute will take turns among the spires, giving voice to the silent stone people of the Duomo.

The program of musical events will be available on the official website duomomilano.it a few days before each event.

Access to Duomo Rooftops for these special Thursday evenings is possible by lift (from € 16.00 full / € 8.00 reduced) by booking your ticket online or by purchasing your ticket at the Ticket Office 3 – Groups Duomo Info Point (Piazza del Duomo, right side of the facade) which will remain open until 8:30 pm for the occasion.

In case of rain, the Terraces will remain accessible. Musical accompaniment, however, may be cancelled.

For those who wish to discover all the curiosities and fascinating details of the great stone forest of Milan Duomo, the Veneranda Fabbrica is promoting a series of guided tours dedicated to the magnificent works on Milan Duomo’s Terraces. Every Thursday and Sunday evening, starting from 6th June 2024.

Gargoyles, flying buttresses, vertiginous spires stretching toward the sky, enchanting corbels and the many statues that describe the route are just some of the incredible details that make the Rofftops of Milan Duomo unique in the Italian panorama.

For foreign audiences and those wishing to visit Milan on weekends through a unique and exclusive experience during the summer period, guided tours will be available only in ENGLISH, every Sunday afternoon, thus guaranteeing the wonderful discovery opportunity of ascending the Terraces.

From Saturday 8th June 2024, the Candoglia Quarry, in the heart of the Ossola Valley, within the municipality of Mergozzo (VB), will once again be the protagonist of visits and guided tours.

A unique and important place in the history of Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo, imbued with charm, as well as an ideal cool and peaceful nest against the city heat.

For centuries a point of extraction of the precious pink Candoglia marble, the Main Quarry opens as an extraordinary setting for guided tours.

A tour that ranges from geology to history, to discover the unique characteristics of this material, the ancient techniques of processing and transport along the waterways, the difficulties of life in the quarry and the evolutions in the methods of extraction.

It is a journey to discover the work of sculptors and ornamentists still engaged in the creation of the decorative elements of the Cathedral today.

Visits take place every Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m., starting Saturday from 8th June to Saturday 14th September 2024 (with the exception of August, with only two open days: Saturday, Aug. 3, and Saturday, Aug. 31).
