Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano offers to all visitors of the Monumental Complex two new extraordinary digital opportunities, to make open and innovative paths to discover the Cathedral, symbol of the city in the world, and its history, through experiences accessible to the general public, in dialogue with technology.
From today, in fact, all visitors, on this page and at the ticket offices of the Monumental Complex, can book an extraordinary virtual experience to explore Candoglia Quarry, the source of the Cathedral, through special viewers available at the Duomo Museum or enjoy a special immersive guided tour wearing smartglass that, thanks to the technology of augmented reality, will give shape to images and videos accompanying the path.

BACK TO THE ORIGINS OF MILAN DUOMO. EXPERIENCE OF AUGMENTED REALITY TO EXPLORE CANDOGLIA QUARRY
Visiting the Monumental Complex of Milan Duomo is a unique and exciting experience. The Cathedral, its wonderful Terraces and the Museum welcome millions of visitors every year attracted by a centuries-old history full of charm. But where are the living sources of the marble used for the construction and maintenance of the Duomo since 1387?
The mountain from which the Candoglia marble comes is located almost 100 km from Milan, a distance that can now be filled thanks to a virtual reality experience developed by Veneranda Fabbrica in collaboration with AnotheReality, with the contribution of Fondazione Cariplo and the support of American Express: wear the visor and live an exciting journey to discover Candoglia Quarry without leaving the spaces of the Duomo Museum!
In a few seconds you will find yourself in the heart of the Ossola Valley and you can admire a breathtaking view, marveling in front of the blue sky of Candoglia. You will discover the origins of this enchanting place and which are the most delicate steps of stone working, following closely the unique experience of marble detachment, but not only. You can become a skilled sculptor yourself! You will also experience the dizzying experience of a walk suspended on a platform once used for handling blocks, over 20 meters high.
The experience is available from the age of 12. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. The visitor must show up at the entrance of the Duomo Museum (Piazza del Duomo, 12) 20 minutes before the time selected for the experience and present the booking confirmation for the ritual of the device.
The experience will be enjoyed inside the Church of San Gottardo in Corte, part of the tour of the Museum.
Duomo Time Walk. Experience of Augmented Reality to discover the Cathedral
Starting from today and thanks to the collaboration with ARt-Glass®, a new way to discover the Duomo is born, enjoying the possibility of an immersive guided tour enriched by an extraordinary immersive experience, through the use of Augmented Reality.
Augmented reality integrates with a virtual image what the visitor sees through the smartglass, geo referencing its position and superimposing graphic simulations to the architectural elements and the spaces that are observed. The virtual reconstruction thus becomes a subsidy for the visitor in order to improve the understanding of the site where it is located.
It will thus be possible to admire the Archaeological Area of the Milan Duomo, with the Baptistery of San Giovanni alle Fonti, through a reconstruction that will lead us to the age of Ambrose, discover the operation of the Cathedral sundial or the ascent of the Nivola to the Holy Nail, exploring the faces and facades of the Monument over the centuries.
The smartglasses that are used for the project are the Epson Moverio BT-350, ergonomic and durable, designed to be worn by a large number of visitors, even with eyeglasses, whose 720p HD display and high brightness ensure sharp images and bright colors.
The experience, available immediately in English and, from July 28, also in German and Spanish, can be booked on this page at a cost of € 10.00*. You must be in possession of a ticket that allows access to the Duomo and the Archaeological Area to enjoy the experience, lasting an hour.
The experience is available from the age of 12. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. The visitor must show up at the audio guide desk inside the Duomo 10 minutes before the time selected for the experience and present the booking confirmation for the ritual of the device. You must leave an ID as a deposit.
