Mother’s Day
This celebration originated in the 1950s during a period in which the need to establish an official recurring occasion that would celebrate the importance of motherhood, both for society and family, was particularly felt in Italy. So it was that in 1958, Zuccari submitted a bill to the Senate of the Republic, with the aim of establishing Mother’s Day; since that moment, the celebration has taken place every year on 8 May.
Then, in 2000, it turned into a movable holiday, which now happens every second Sunday in May.
On the occasion of this wonderful festivity, the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano is inviting all of you to celebrate that special woman in your life with a gesture of solidarity. With a donation starting from €10, you will receive a greeting card to give to your mother by sending an email to donazioni@duomomilano.it. For donations of €50 and above, you can also request a donation certificate with customisable dedication, and your gift will become even more special.
With a donation to the restoration of the Duomo di Milano you will be making a twofold gift: to your mother and to our Cathedral, the symbol of the city in the world.
