All the initiatives to experience and discover Milan Cathedral
“Milano al Duomo” involves the introduction of days of free admission to Milan Cathedral and the Cathedral Museum. For 2026, the dates chosen are 16 October, the anniversary of the first regulations of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo (1387), and 4 November, the Solemnity of St Charles.
In addition to these events, from Sunday 27 September 2026, the Milan Cathedral Museum will be open free of charge on the last Sunday of every month, subject to change.
The initiative was created with the aim of making the Duomo increasingly accessible, highlighting not only its exceptional historical, artistic and cultural heritage, but also its role as a symbol of Milan’s identity and a point of reference for the community.
Upcoming Tours
Alongside the free openings, which coincide with significant religious and civil anniversaries in the city’s tradition, the programme offers a calendar of special guided tours starting on 26 August 2026.
The tours are completely free of charge and led by expert guides, allowing visitors to explore the most iconic sites within the Monumental Complex – some of which are not normally open to the public.
The Educational Services of the Veneranda Fabbrica will offer free activities with the aim of making the heritage of the Duomo Museum accessible to an increasingly wider audience: guided tours and workshops for children and families, guided tours using the DescriVedendo method, and guided tours and workshops in LIS (Italian Sign Language).

Participation in all initiatives, open to all visitors to the Milan Cathedral Monumental Complex, requires mandatory booking via duomomilano.it, subject to availability. Each user may book up to 2 places per reservation, with a maximum of 3 reservations per day.
Tickets are nominative.
If there are any remaining places available, you can check for availability directly at the ticket office on the day the venue opens.
“Milano al Duomo” is part of a wider programme of cultural initiatives that the Veneranda Fabbrica, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Chapter of Milan, promotes throughout the year to encourage public participation in the life of the Cathedral. Even today, the Duomo hosts numerous free-admission events, including concerts and musical performances offered on the occasion of the principal feasts of the liturgical year, such as Christmas, Easter and Pentecost, as well as educational and in-depth learning programmes such as the “Scuola della Cattedrale”, directed by the Archpriest Monsignor Gianantonio Borgonovo.
The Milan Cathedral always remains freely accessible for personal prayer, participation in liturgical celebrations and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, reaffirming its vocation as a living church and the spiritual heart of the Ambrosian community.

The Milan Cathedral Museum is open free of charge on the last Sunday of every month, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (last admission at 6 p.m.), starting from 27 September 2026, subject to change.
Booking is mandatory via duomomilano.it from the Tuesday preceding each Sunday.
