On Wednesday, 18 June, the University of Sheffield Chamber Choir will perform in concert

Wednesday, 18 June 2025, at 4:00 PM, the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo hosts a new musical event, featuring the University of Sheffield Chamber Choir, conducted by Joseph Banerjiee, bringing to Milan the richness of the British choral tradition.

The official choir of the University of Sheffield, in the United Kingdom, the ensemble brings together talented singers from all faculties and offers a broad repertoire of sacred and secular music, from the Renaissance to the present day. During the academic year, it performs regularly in Sheffield and beyond, with recent notable performances including Fauré’s Requiem and Parry’s Songs of Farewell.

Particularly active in outreach and international engagement, the choir has taken part in summer tours performing in prestigious European venues, including Cologne Cathedral, St. Clement’s Church in Prague, the Salt Mines of Krakow, and the Metropolitan and Anglican Cathedrals of Liverpool.

For the Milan concert, lasting approximately 45 minutes, the choir will present an exceptional program ranging from Renaissance pieces to modern compositions, including: O quam gloriosum by Tomás Luis de Victoria, Abendlied by Josef Rheinberger, O Sing Joyfully by Adrian Batten, Ave Maria by Robert Nathaniel Dett, Nunc Dimittis by Gustav Holst, and selected pieces from Songs of Farewell by Hubert Parry.

The concert will begin at 4:00 PM in the Cathedral, with free admission starting from 3:30 PM, through the entrance reserved for worshippers located on the Façade (northernmost door, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele side), subject to availability.

A special occasion to be embraced by the beauty of international choral music, in one of the most iconic places in Milan.
