Heat and Services: Updates for Visiting the Monumental Complex of the Milan Cathedral

Heat and visitor services: updates for visits to the Milan Duomo Monumental Complex during summer 2026

The Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano, which has always prioritised the well-being and safety of visitors to the Monumental Complex, confirms that it will once again be enhancing the services offered in the visitor areas this summer to better manage the season and high temperatures, with particular focus on the Terraces.

From 15 June until 13 September 2026, a medical aid station staffed by specialist personnel will be set up on the Duomo’s Terraces, thanks to a partnership with Auxologico. This initiative, designed to provide immediate assistance to visitors in case of need, will be in operation every day during the hottest hours of the day, specifically from 12pm to 5pm.

Furthermore, in close proximity to the stairways and in coordination with the Lombardy Regional Emergency Agency (AREU), an ambulance will be on standby at all times, including during extended opening hours for evening events.

Also on the Terraces, near the sentry boxes, fresh water distribution points will be set up to provide additional support in hot weather, should the need arise.

However, all visitors are reminded of the importance of following a few simple but essential rules to fully enjoy the beauty of the Duomo Terraces in safety, especially when out in the sun.

  • Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water is essential to prevent dehydration. There are water dispensers at the Duomo’s official Ticket Office.
  • Wear light, pale-coloured clothing: breathable fabrics and light colours help reflect the sun’s rays.
  • Wear a hat and sunglasses: these protect against direct sunlight.
  • Apply sun cream: essential for protecting your skin.
  • Seek shelter in the shade: whenever possible, take short breaks in shaded areas.

Visits to the Duomo Terraces during the hottest part of the day are not recommended for vulnerable individuals, such as those with cardiorespiratory or mobility conditions.

All updates on opening times and tickets for the Milan Cathedral Complex are available on the official website duomomilano.it.

The Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano wishes everyone a pleasant visit.
