Luca Campanile and Davide Buscato (Co-Founders): 'We are proud to start the partnership with the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano. For us it represents a further step of innovation and growth by putting our resources at the disposal of children who are our future."
The Music Chapel of the Milan Duomo is the oldest cultural institution in Milan, and among the oldest in the world. Active uninterruptedly from 1402 to the present day, it is the cultural-artistic expression of the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano and guards a singular heritage that can be identified in the music that its masters have written over the centuries up to the present day, preserved in the Archives of the Veneranda Fabbrica. It was in 1402 that the deputies of the Veneranda Fabbrica appointed the first cantor and singing master of the Music Chapel, the musichus Matteo da Perugia. By the end of his term, the Chapel had its complete organisation: maestro, organist, vice-maestro, adult singers and children. The passage of centuries brought a continuous flow of excellent masters who contributed to the evolution and enrichment of its musical heritage. In the 19th century, the School was reorganized for the instruction of boys to whom, according to the custom of the time, the high voice (sopranos and altos) was entrusted.
Today the Music Chapel, composed of adults and children, is present in the Duomo of Milan every Sunday at the solemn Chapter Celebration at 11am and on the main feast days of the year. It regularly performs in concerts in Italy and abroad; a guest at numerous music festivals, it recently toured Germany (2017) and Japan (2014 and 2017). The current Director is Monsignor Massimo Palombella SDB.
