Palm Sunday, with the dual remembrance of Jesus’ Entrance into Jerusalem (Mass combined with the Procession) and the anointing of Bethany (Mass on the day), ushers in the Holy Week, called – since the earliest documents of the Ambrosian liturgy – Hebdomada authentica (Authentic Week), the “eminent” Week among all the weeks of the liturgical year and therefore the typical and normative Week.

We celebrate Lord’s Easter: the Mystery of death and resurrection, which invites us not to act as mute spectators and asks us to be involved and inwardly transformed by God’s love. We express the purpose of following Jesus until he reaches the cross, overcoming the darkness of betrayal and death, with the certainty that our Lord is the “firstborn of those who rise from the dead” (Epistle: Colossians 1:18).

Let there be two sentiments during these days: praise, as those who welcomed Jesus in Jerusalem did, and thanksgiving, because during this “Authentic Week” Lord Jesus renews the gift of his life.

You can follow the Pontifical (at 10:30 a.m.) and the Vespers (at 6:30 p.m.) live streaming at this Site from the official YouTube channel “Duomo Milano TV”.
