Christmas Concert
Scintille di Musica (Sparks of Music) returns, the series of concerts in Milan Cathedral promoted by the Cameristi della Scala and the Veneranda Fabbrica with the contribution of Intesa Sanpaolo, which for three years has been bringing a journey of listening and reflection to the heart of the city, where great music meets the spirituality of the place.
Three events mark this year’s edition, with programmes spanning different eras and languages, in the name of beauty and sharing.
The first concert, Rossini, Rossini! (Thursday 30 October at 7.30 p.m.), celebrates the genius of Gioachino Rossini with an anthology of sacred and theatrical pieces, accompanied by a tribute to Niccolò Paganini. The voices of Floriana Cicio and Daniela Pini, together with solo violinist Indro Borreani, will bring to life a programme rich in colour and virtuosity.
The second event, Romantic Serenades (Tuesday 11 November at 7.30 pm), is entirely dedicated to string music by Edvard Grieg, Hugo Wolf and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. A journey through the lyricism and cantabile style of late 19th-century Europe, entrusted to the sensitivity of the Cameristi della Scala.
The cycle concludes with the Christmas Concert (Friday 12 December at 7.30 pm), featuring the Cameristi together with the Teatro alla Scala Children’s Choir, conducted by Massimo Raccanelli. From the Baroque music of Vivaldi and Scarlatti to the choral works of Rutter, Gardner and Leontovych, the evening becomes a musical wish for peace and harmony.
“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent”
