San Feliciano was martyred together with his brother San Primo in 297, whose statue is located on the opposite side of the Cathedral, on the G86 spire facing north. Both were placed on the Cathedral as the crowning of two spires, one looking north towards the Alps, the other placed on the south side of the Cathedral. In fact, pure and true love has no directions, love is universal and embraces everyone equally. It is the same love that San Feliciano and San Primo had for God, so strong that it made them martyrs together.
Tales of the statue in Dome’s building site:
The spire of San Feliciano is located on the south side of the central Terrace, facing the Royal Palace. The statue, dating back to the first half of the 19th century, is a very faithful reproduction from 1965 and depicts the saint with the features of a young man, dressed in a tunic; his gaze appears proud, like that of his brother. In his left hand he holds a rolled-up scroll, perhaps containing a message of faith and love for others, addressed to everyone.
