The Easter Triduum is the heart and summit of the entire liturgical year. The Church, through the liturgical and sacramental signs, associates itself in intimate communion with the Lord Jesus, who “by becoming man gathers us into unity, by humbling himself he raises us up, by surrendering himself to death he frees us, by suffering he redeems us” (Preface of the Monday of the Authentic Week).

In the celebration of the sacred Triduum, the Mystery of Easter is made present and fulfilled. “The rite we celebrate is not the repetition of words and gestures that is reduced to a dutiful fulfilment. It is rather the grace of entering into the Mystery as God’s holy people. It is the memorial of Easter that becomes the principle of new life, transfigured by participation in the Death and Resurrection of Jesus” (Monsignor Mario Delpini).
